Welcome to the Global Mental Health and Cultural Psychiatry Research Group (GMHCP)

The Global Mental Health and Cultural Psychiatry Research Group is dedicated to enhancing access to appropriate mental health care for diverse ethnic minority and marginalised communities. Our work addresses the significant mental health treatment gap in low- and middle-income countries and informs the development of mental health services in high-income nations.

Our Global Presence

The Global Mental Health and Cultural Psychiatry group serves as a central resource for innovative research and best practices, in our field. We bring together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and community leaders from diverse cultural contexts to promote collaboration and drive meaningful change.

Our initiatives are guided by a commitment to inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive mental health care across the life course. These projects directly contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) addressing health, education, reduced inequalities, and global partnerships. Many are designed with equity and scalability in mind, ensuring that successful initiatives can be expanded and adapted to new contexts both in high and low-resource settings.

I am proud to say that by combiningcultural sensitivity, technological innovation, and collaborative research, our work is shaping the future of global mental health care. Each project is a step forward in achieving not just better health outcomes, but also a more inclusive, sustainable future for all.
