Dr. Dung Jidong
Dr. Jidong is a distinguished psychologist specialising in the intersection of culture and mental health. He obtained his PhD from the University of East London (UEL) in the UK, where his research focused on the impact of cultural beliefs on mental health in Nigeria. His PhD work, funded by the UEL Excellence PhD Studentship, earned him the Delegates Choice Poster Winner awards at the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) Annual Conferences in 2017 and 2018.
Dr. Jidong is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) with the British Psychological Society, Division for Teachers and Researchers in Psychology, and a certified Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
His research interests include:
• African cultural perspectives on mental health issues
• Black and cultural psychology
• Clinical, critical, and community psychology
• Mental health issues among Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) populations
• Nigerian cultural beliefs and mental health
