Dr. Mina Husain

Dr. Mina Husain is a distinguished psychiatrist and educator, currently serving as a Clinician Teacher at CAMH and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto. She completed her medical degree at St. George’s University of London (UK), followed by Foundation Training as an Academic Fellow in the North of England and Postgraduate Speciality Training in General Adult Psychiatry at the renowned Maudsley Training Programme in London.
Raised between the UK and Canada, Dr. Husain returned to Toronto in 2022, bringing a wealth of clinical and academic experience. She has expanded her research skills with a certificate in Global Clinical Research from Harvard Medical School and has published her findings in peer-reviewed journals. Her interests in Global Mental Health have driven her involvement in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as capacity building, exemplified by her role as an Honorary Clinical Tutor at the University of Malawi.
Dr. Husain is also deeply engaged in the creative arts, using this medium to enhance public engagement, raise awareness, and combat the stigma surrounding mental illness. She has produced award-winning short films featured at international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, and available on platforms such as Amazon Prime. Her work has received coverage from major media outlets like the BBC and The Guardian.
Currently, Dr. Husain is pursuing a master’s degree in Global Media and Communications at SOAS University of London, with a thesis focused on mental health. Her multifaceted approach to psychiatry, combining clinical excellence, academic involvement, and creative arts, makes her an invaluable asset to the global mental health community.
