Professor Nasim Chaudhry
Professor Nasim Chaudhry is a highly esteemed senior Consultant Psychiatrist and a co-founder of our global mental health initiative. With over two decades of experience in the UK, she has developed a profound expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and managing a broad spectrum of mental disorders, including schizophrenia, PTSD, personality disorders, and stress-related conditions. Her clinical and research pursuits are particularly focused on mood and anxiety disorders, perinatal psychiatry, and substance misuse, driven by a passion for exploring innovative treatments.
Professor Chaudhry is also an accredited consultant in Intellectual Disability (ID) Psychiatry, bringing extensive experience in managing autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, and challenging behaviours. Since 2003, she has led the Salford ID services, which has been recognized by the Department of Health as a model of excellence in service delivery.
As an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, Professor Chaudhry contributes to one of Europe’s largest centres for research and postgraduate education in psychiatry and neuroscience. She is deeply involved in teaching and training, serving as an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Training Program Director for ID higher trainees in northwest England.
Professor Chaudhry’s academic collaborations span the UK, Canada, Africa, and South Asia, reflecting her strong commitment to global mental health. She is dedicated to building capacity and training mental health practitioners in low- and middle-income countries. Her extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals, along with her role as a co-applicant on prestigious international grants, underscores her influence in the field. She has also presented her work at numerous international conferences.
Recently, Professor Chaudhry has returned to Pakistan, where she continues her practice as a consultant psychiatrist at South City Hospital in Karachi. Her continuous involvement in cutting-edge mental health research ensures that she remains at the forefront of providing evidence-based, high-quality care to her clients.
