Visit of Arab Coordinator Mrs RIMA NSERAT to the University of Jordan

On November 21, 2024, the Department of Psychology at the University of Jordan hosted a visit from Mrs. Rima Nserat, Arab Coordinator for Global Mental Health and Cultural Psychiatry (GMHCP) research group, Manchester, and Dr. A Rauf, Chief Officer of the Ethnic Health Forum. This visit marked a significant step towards establishing a strong presence of our group in the Arab world.

 The Department of Psychology at the University of Jordan graciously hosted the meeting, with esteemed faculty members providing valuable insights and guidance. Professor Marwan Alzoubi, Chairman of the Department of Psychology, offered expert advice throughout the discussions. Professor Ahmad Al-Sheikh Ali contributed significantly to the meeting’s discourse, particularly in digital mental health projects. Dr. Ahmad Abudoush, Assistant Professor, played a crucial role in facilitating the discussions and fostering fruitful collaborations.

The meeting concluded with an understanding of organizing a mental health conference in Amman, which would serve as a starting point for researchers from the Arab world to gather and initiate the activities of the GMHCP Group. This visit marks a significant step towards establishing a strong presence of our research group in the Arab world, improving mental health discussions, and fostering meaningful collaborations in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region.
